The 2012 RDX’s fuel-economy numbers are noticeably worse, at 19/24 mpg for the front-drive version and 17/22 with SH-AWD. The company expects the front-drive RDX to be rated at 20 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, but isn’t offering any preliminary numbers for the all-wheel-drive model. According to Acura, the RDX will return better fuel economy than the current model with either drive configuration. For those who don’t require four driven wheels, the RDX will continue to be available with front-wheel drive. The 3.5-liter V-6 produces 33 more hp than last year’s four-banger-for a total of 273-and comes bolted to a six-speed automatic transmission instead of last year’s five-cog unit. The steering has been switched to an electrically boosted setup with fuel economy in mind. Acura says the not-so-super all-wheel-drive gear is lighter, which should make it and the overall vehicle more efficient the change makes the RDX the only AWD model in the brand’s lineup without SH-AWD. For 2013, the SH-AWD and the turbo four are gone, substituted for a non-torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system and a V-6. Everything that made the last RDX so fun to drive-the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, torque-vectoring “Super Handling” all-wheel drive, and excellent steering-has either been tweaked or replaced. While we can dig the RDX’s slight size bump, we’re a bit wary of what Acura did to the crossover’s mechanicals. (It’s a significant 5.2 inches longer and 2.1 inches wider, and has 2.6 inches more between its wheels, however, than the latest Honda CR-V.) To keep cabin noise levels in check, there’s more sound-deadening material and Active Sound Control noise-cancellation tech cribbed from the RL sedan. The prototype also is about 1 inch lower and longer, and 0.1 inch wider than the current RDX. Compared to the previous model, Acura stretched the wheelbase 1.4 inches and widened the track for more passenger and cargo room, while the door openings have been enlarged for easier ingress and egress. The RDX’s newfound maturity extends beneath the sheetmetal. The mechanical-eagle-beak grille has been toned down to match the look currently seen on the rest of Acura’s lineup. It now looks like a shrunken version of the MDX. The RDX still remains recognizable as an Acura, but its styling is more mature than before. If the 2013 RDX’s proportions look familiar, that’s because it utilizes the same basic platform as the latest Honda CR-V (the last RDX also shared much with the previous CR-V). What you see here is the redesigned 2013 Acura RDX, although the company technically is calling the car on display at the 2012 Detroit auto show a “prototype.” The second-generation crossover goes on sale this spring, and is expected to be significantly different from its predecessor, which was small, frisky, and athletic-attributes that made it fun but also came at the expense of ride quality and comfort. This echoes the window line of the TLX.PATRICK M. The rear quarter window also sweeps upward now. The roofline looks a bit lower than the current MDX, furthering the sportier appearance. Moving around the MDX, we can make out beefier fenders that give the new crossover a wide, sporty stance. Combined with what looks like a longer nose, the new MDX has a more proud, upright look versus the slumped, slightly minivan-esque design of the current model. The grille and headlights sit higher in the front fascia, too. It also has headlights that fit with the grille better, adopting a more angular, slimmer shape compared to the old MDX. While the outgoing version has a similar grille, this one is wider and flatter. Starting from the front, the MDX features the pentagonal grille from the TLX. As such, we can tell that the new model will be quite a bit more athletic and share many styling cues with the recently revealed TLX sedan. This 2022 Acura MDX was caught by one of our spy photographers with bare minimum vinyl wrap camouflage. Acura's first in-house crossover/SUV is finally ready for another full redesign, and these latest spy photos give us our best look yet.

Living full-time in a campervan makes it really difficult to do anything that requires a physical address. This is honestly one of the most valuable aspects of Anytime Mailbox for us. The real street address provided allows you to use that address for voter registration, vehicle registration, insurance, bank accounts, etc. Īnd the fact that Anytime Mailbox addresses appear like a real street address makes them far superior to PO boxes. For physical packages, we still try to rely on one of the methods outlined in our post about how to get mail on the road. But we don’t use this service too often, because then we basically have to pay for shipping twice. Most jobs have an option for direct deposit and we much prefer that method anyway.Īnytime Mailbox will also receive and forward physical packages to us for a fee. After reviewing incoming mail we can decide whether want Anytime Mailbox to open & scan, forward, recycle, or shred. That makes it a valuable service for people without a stable address who travel a lot. But unlike a PO Box, they are managed remotely by a company and typically have a normal street address. A virtual mailbox is actually a rented physical mailbox, like a P.O. When traveling full-time in our campervan we needed a reliable and stable mailing address to use for mail, bank accounts, and registrations. In this Anytime Mailbox Review, I will detail our experience using their virtual mailbox service. STEM alone misses several key components that many employers, educators, and parents have voiced as critical for our children to thrive in the present and rapidly approaching future. The STEM to STEAM movement has been taking root over the past several years and is surging forward as a positive mode of action to truly meet the needs of a 21st century economy. “Results showed that students whose language arts curricula were infused with theater arts often outperformed their control group counterparts, who received no arts integration, in both math and language arts” (Inoa, R., Weltsek, G., & Tabone, C.).Īnd in an international study published in the Journal of Educational Change, researchers found that secondary teachers’ reflections “revealed inter-, trans- and cross-disciplinary learning shaped by teacher collaboration, dialogue and classroom organization that fosters critical and creative thinking.” ( Anne Harris and Leon R. This is further supported by a study on the relationship between theater arts and student literacy and mathematics achievement from 2014. J.).Īnother study from 2014 shows the connecting STEAM and literacy can positively impact cognitive development, increase literacy and math skills, and help students reflect meaningfully on their work and that of their peers (Cunnington, Marisol, Andrea Kantrowitz, Susanne Harnett, and Aline Hill-Ries.). Findings indicated that students who received just nine hours of STEAM instruction made improvements in their science achievement (Brouillette, L., & Graham, N. In a 2016 study, researchers investigated the impact of STEAM lessons on physical science learning in grades 3 to 5 in high poverty elementary schools in an urban district. Recent research shows that STEAM is a promising approach to positively impacting student achievement and teacher efficacy. So we can finally remove the brick walls and classroom doors to get at the heart of learning. It takes what we do when we open the doors to the real world and places those same practices in our cycles of teaching and learning. Integrating concepts, topics, standards and assessments is a powerful way to disrupt the typical course of events for our students and to help change the merry-go-round of “school.” Why do we believe that we have the ability or the right to box it in behind brick walls and classroom doors in a place called school? Our world is a beautiful, complex, and intricate tapestry of learning all in its own right. None of us go outside and look at a tree and say, “that’s a tree, so that’s science” or, “the sky is blue, so that’s art.” We are at a point where it is not only possible, but imperative that we facilitate learning environments that are fluid, dynamic, and relevant. But what does that look like? We are preparing students for jobs that don’t even exist. Can You Cook Frozen Chicken Breast In The Air Fryer? Internal temperature continues to rise while resting, so cooking until slightly less will ensure that the chicken does not come out dry. Like other chicken recipes, the safest internal temp for air fryer chicken breast is 165 degrees F, but I prefer to cook until it reaches 163 degrees F, then let it rest for 5 minutes to reach at least 165. An instant read thermometer will also work, but you won’t know until you check. This chart is a good guideline, but I recommend using a probe thermometer for perfectly cooked chicken breast (it will beep when ready!). The following chart shows a general guideline for how long to air fry them based on their size: Chicken Breast Size How Long To Cook Chicken Breast In The Air Fryer?īoneless chicken breast air fryer cooking time will vary depending on the size of the chicken breasts, ranging 7-16 minutes. Spices – The basics I used are garlic powder (onion powder also works great), sea salt, paprika, and black pepper.Any neutral oil, such as avocado oil, would also work. Olive Oil – Brushing the chicken with oil helps prevent it from drying out.(I promise, the chicken won’t taste overly salty, and you’ll rinse the excess brine from the chicken before cooking.) That may seem like a lot, but not nearly all the salt will make it into the chicken, and this ratio helps ensure that osmosis takes place to get as much of the water into the chicken as possible, for the best air fryer chicken breast. You’ll need enough water to submerge the chicken (about 4 cups in a large bowl) and the basic brine ratio is 1 tablespoon of salt per cup of water. Brine – You’ll need water and sea salt to make the brine.I have specific recipes for air fryer chicken drumsticks, air fryer wings, air fryer chicken thighs, and air fryer whole chicken that you can use. This method will work for other cuts of chicken as well, but cooking time will vary depending on cut. For boneless, I love this organic brand that gets delivered right to your door.
